You Have More Time Than You Think | Stop Lying To Yourself

How many people do you speak with each day/week, and they say, "Yeah, we are just so busy" or "I'd love to, but I just don't have the time for it?" This happens to me ALL the time. I say it myself. I've said things such as, "I'll start that course when I have time," or "I'll begin writing that book when life gets less crazy."

I've found that life never gets "less" crazy. I won't magically have more time. It's a simple thought experiment; look at your day-to-day and see what you devote your time to. It will shock you to realize that there are many things you are doing that don't move the needle each week, and you shouldn't be doing them, not to mention the time you spend scrolling through social media, watching Netflix, etc. Benjamin Franklin said, "Lost time is never found again."

You can never reclaim the time you wasted today or yesterday, but you can optimize how you spend your time in the future. In reality, you spend time on the things that matter to you. If growing your business and getting more YouTube subscribers meant something to you, you would be devoting time there each day.

Stop wasting your time and START THAT THING you've always wanted to try.

This week, I've been putting off certain things in my business because they are monotonous and tedious, and some are just plain hard. I like doing the comfy/fun things that make me feel good daily, but I've found those things don't help me grow my business. I coach clients each week who tell me they aren't seeing much growth, and when we look at their daily schedule, we see why. It's because they aren't doing the hard things that push their business/brand forward. Look at your schedule at the end of the week, track your time spent, and see where the excess fat is in your days.

My Podcasts This Week:

This week, I sat down with YouTube creator Glory Anna from the Glory's Stories YouTube channel. I had a great conversation with her about creating content on the road, making time for life while creating monetization strategies for smaller creators, and a ton more.

I also did an episode on the TubeBuddy Express podcast about monetizing off of YouTube and offering exclusive content beyond the free stuff on your social channels.

Resources Of The Week:

Grammarly: This is my spell-checker on steroids. I use Grammarly daily, whether writing video scripts, a podcast outline, or this newsletter. Grammarly is always pulled up and highlights my many mistakes.

Creator Communities Highlight:

This week is VidSummit, and if you are a video creator, it is one of the year's highlights, one of the biggest conferences, and a place to network with other creators. I couldn't attend this year, but through a message on our Creator Communities group page, it was like I was there. Join creator communities here if you haven't already.

"Dusty Porter, I just wanted to send this picture. Thank you for all you've done. I've got some lifelong friends that I just met with at VidSummit, and I wouldn't even know who these guys are if you never decided to start this group.
