It Takes A While To Get Great At Anything |Patience Is A Super Power
In a world where we want everything NOW, it’s no wonder that people can’t stick with anything when building a brand or business. The results must happen within the first couple of months; if not, the person usually quits. It takes time and hard work if you want to succeed at anything and be great at it. Passive income is a beautiful idea; some people will achieve it, but it doesn’t instantly become passive.
What are you good at, and what is your passion for?
Find the thing that people often tell you you are great at. For me, conversations and relationship-building led to me starting a podcast. Another one was that people always told me I had a great voice, which led to my voice-acting career. There is a saying that 10,000 hours at something makes you an expert. I’m not too sure this is correct. I’ve spent over that amount on certain things in my business and still feel inadequate.
When I started my YouTube channel, it took almost ten months to reach 1,000 views. It took nearly two years to get 1000 subscribers. I coach creators every week who hop on the call, thinking that I have a magic button they can press and instantly find the results they are looking for. The students who succeed are the ones who go into it knowing they will have to eat some crow for a while before they see the results. You will dedicate time and resources to getting there if you want something.
My Podcasts This Week:
This week, I had a wonderful conversation with Leo from the Crash Frontier YouTube channel. He is a faceless YouTube creator, and we discussed why. He talked about his formula for making videos go viral and the power of the YouTube community tab. The conversations I have each week with creators and entrepreneurs motivate me and encourage me to keep going. It’s one of my favorite hacks. I interview other talented people and learn to live on the call as we record the show. Listen to the YouTube Creators Hub podcast here.
Resources Of the Week:
Notion: I’m enjoying Notion as the central hub of my business. If you can ignore all of the pretty templates and use the tool to get work done, it’s fantastic. I love having connected databases of all my business stuff and one app that I can go to to find any note, task, or project.
How To Win Friends and Influence People: I’m a bit late on this one BUT I’m about half way through this book and its fantastic. All of the accolades it’s received over the years are well warranted. Pick this one up if you want a book to help you build relationships with clients, family, friends and overall success.
Amazon Kindle: I’ve bounced around over the years with the devices I use to read my books digitally. I’ve used my iPad and phone but always return to my Kindle. I’ve found that I use it more now that I have the USB-C device. It charges with all the cables I use with my other devices.
Quote Of The Week:
If you spend too much time thinking about a thing, you’ll never get it done. - Bruce Lee
This one is powerful and from one of my favorite actors. Constant brainstorming and thinking about doing something will get you nowhere. It’s one thing to be prepared and do it the right way, but when you spend all your time thinking about doing something, it never gets done, and you never start. The people who succeed are the ones who take action. Start and then improve on it. You can always improve upon something once it’s started.
Creator Communities Spotlight:
This week, I want to take a minute to recognize my friend and fellow creator, Joe, from the Muscles and The Multiverse YouTube channel. He just reached 4,000 hours of watch time and is entirely accepted into the YouTube Partner program to be able to monetize and run ads on his videos. Joe has been a part of our Creator Communities group for almost three years now and has attended nearly every single one of our group mastermind calls. Excellent job, Joe!
